Affiliate links not working or directing to homepage

If you are having trouble getting your affiliate links to work on your in post or slide in ads, make sure to check the following to be sure that the link has been properly entered.

By Default in your in post or slide in edit screen you will see something like this:

[su_button url="http://www.domain.com/alink" target="blank" style="flat" size="5" background="#ef2d2e" center="yes" icon="icon: chevron-right"]Click here & register now![/su_button]

This is the unedited code for your link which you will need to change to use your affiliate offer.

When you go to change the code above you will want to make sure that you are fully replacing the text of the default link (http://www.domain.com/alink) with your new link so that it looks something like this:

[su_button url="http://www.yourdomainname.com/yourprettylink" target="blank" style="flat" size="5" background="#ef2d2e" center="yes" icon="icon: chevron-right"]Click here & register now![/su_button]

Simply replace http://www.yourdomainname.com/yourprettylink with your actual link which you have created in Pretty Link.

Wordpress may try to turn this into a link within your editor so that it looks like this:

http://www.yourdomainname.com/yourprettylink

If this happens you can correct it by highlighting the url within the editor and clicking the "Remove Link" button within your toolbar and this will force it to be entered as plain text which is what you want and it will instead show like this:

http://www.yourdomainname.com/yourprettylink

When pasting your link you might also see that instead of replacing the http://www.domain.com/alink text Wordpress will instead turn it into a link using the url you have entered as the target.

You can tell this is the case because the text will stay the same and when you place your mouse over the link a small window will open underneath showing the link you entered.

This is also incorrect and in order to fix this you can simply delete the original text entirely before pasting in your pretty link in to replace it, just be sure that the final product matches the correct example above.
